Bendinat is limited in its architectural diversity due to its size.

Villas in Bendinat are modern, Mediterranean, or classic Mallorcan.

Particularly noteworthy is Bendinat Castle (Castillo de Bendinat), which has beautifully landscaped grounds.

The castle was built in the middle of the 19th century in neo-Gothic style by Marques de la Romana. Previously, the Arab farmstead “Ibn-Dinat”, which Jaume I had built, stood on the same site.

An investor from Valencia acquired this unique property in Bendinat from the municipality of Calvia for approximately 25 million euros.

The gambling hall and casino operators Merkur had tried in 2013/2014 to obtain a casino license for Bendinat Castle, but ultimately did not win the contract.

HISTORY AND CULTURE

In 1229, King Jaime of Aragon set up camp here after a brutal battle with the Moors. According to legend, the name of the village goes back to the Catalan word “Ben dinat”, which means “well fed” after the king had eaten in his tent.

Bendinat Castle was built between 1855 and 1867 in Mallorca. The third Marquis de la Romana, built by Pedro Caro in the style of central Koranic Gothic. Since then, the 2,800 hectares have had various owners, including the Count of Montenegro. The castle is still visible faraway.  Meanwhile, however, it is privately owned and cannot be visited by tourists.
